On September 8, 2020, in the village Bolshoy Sundyr, Morgaushi district of the Chuvash Republic, the grand opening of the second updated library in the region, which was modernized within the framework of the national project «Culture», took place.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the executive branch and local authorities.
The attendees noted that thanks to the renovation, original design, modern equipment, and a rich book fund, the Bolshesundyr Rural Library has been transformed into a modern multifunctional cultural space with a new format of communication «book-reader-librarian», in which all conditions have been created for the intellectual and creative development of the individual.
Four functional zones with access to information resources have been created for the convenience of users, instead of the usual subscription and reading room, a comfortable reading area – with soft sofas and poufs, the latest video projection equipment and an acoustic system for free communication and leisure. There is an information сentre – with five computer places, tablets for reading e-books and an area for the work, MFC «windows» for the provision of state (municipal) services. There is an intellect-сentre – with interactive equipment and electronic microscope for educational and development activities. Exhibition area has a bookcrossing structure «Tree of life» and an exclusive showcase in the form of honeycomb for creative works of readers. Each room is functional and thanks to mobile furniture, can be transformed into a dialogue space, a lecture hall, a theatre or a cinema hall.
Satisfying the needs of readers, the library fund has been filled with book novelties for children and adults: classical and modern, popular science and industry literature, resources of the National Electronic Library are also available. For visually impaired people, a portable video enlarger and tifloflash players are provided. The villagers will also be able to use Wi-Fi, services for scanning and printing, laminating and stitching documents, making photocopies. Older people will be attracted by the media classes «Electronic citizen of the village», «School of Financial Literacy». New services await schoolchildren: «Biblioprodlenka», «Not a boring day off», «Summer library camp». The «Young Ecologist club» will start working, where curious children with the help of research equipment will study the amazing world of nature, conduct exciting experiments. A new project «Let’s Revive National Traditions» is being launched to preserve and develop the culture of the Chuvash people through folklore.
The new library will attract readers with its modern design, information resources, bright events, and, as a result, will become a place for communication and social activity of the population.
